My Name

I was named after my Great-Grandma Ruby and Great-Nana Suzanne. Please read about both of them below.

Ruby E. (Karrick) Schondelmeyer

My great-grandma Ruby, my daddy's grandma, passed away on April 12, 2005 after suffering a stroke a few years before. She died shortly after visiting with my daddy the night before, sharing how proud she was of him.
My great-grandma Ruby loved my great-papa John, cherished her children, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife to my great-papa John Schondelmeyer, caring for him selflessly through his battle with leukemia. She was a compassionate mother to her children, especially my Papa David. And, her grandchildren were the joy of her life.
My daddy tells me that great-grandma Ruby was the most fun grandma anyone could ever ask for. She would always have toys, and candy, and fun activities for my daddy and his siblings to do when they were young. It was always a fight between my daddy and his siblings to decide who would get to spend the night at grandma Ruby's house, it was that much fun.

My great-grandma Ruby was very faithful, and super involved in her church. It's because of her that my daddy got involved in church as a child. She would always convince him to go, promising she would take him out for Chinese food afterwards. My daddy just couldn't pass that up. Just look at my daddy's tummy...you can tell.
Like my Papa David, her son, great-grandma Ruby also loved math. She used to teach math at Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO, which is the same high school that my daddy graduated from years later. She used to try and tutor my daddy in math, but it just wasn't his subject. I hear that the only thing that my daddy ever did to make great-grandma Ruby upset was telling her that he didn't like math. That was a big mistake, because then she gave him extra work, telling him it was "like a puzzle."
My great-grandma, Ruby Elizabeth (Karrick) Schondelmeyer, was a beautiful, confident, well-educated woman, and I am so glad I am a part of her family legacy. Though I'll never get to meet my great-grandma Ruby, I'm glad that my name will always carry her joyful, loving spirit in our lives.

My great-nana Suzanne, my mommy's nana, is such an inspiration. She grew up in Toledo, OH, where my brother Alexander was born. My mommy tells me that my great-nana was a very smart young woman. When many girls her age got married and had kids, my great-nana charted her own course, and went to college. She loved books and she loved learning new things. She even became a school teacher, and taught at the Old Orchard Elementary School, in the same neighborhood where my mommy and daddy bought their first house.

My great-nana met and married my great-grandpa Allen, and they had four children, including my nana, Holly. They enjoyed many wonderful years together, raised a beautiful family and spent summers at Clark Lake. In fact, the cottage at Clark Lake is still in the family, and I can't wait to go swimming or to ride in the boat.
My mommy tells me that great-nana Sue also loved to travel. She was always going on trips with friends or
